Mexicana de Aviacion has suspended its ticket sales and cancelled flights following what it called a week of ‘strangled cash flows’. The airline, which filed for bankruptcy last week, has cancelled its Mexico City -Gatwick flights, as well as operations to several US cities. Mexicana said its financial situation had “deteriorated substantially” following an IATA decision to block its BSP sales channel. This forced the airline to suspend ticket sales, while its other revenues “dried up” or were retained by financial institutions following the bankruptcy announcement. It said it was focusing on getting customers home and hoped additional resources could secure the airline’s future. Updates are available at cminaforma.com or through Twitter @mexicanair.
