Countries in the Middle East have lead the way in the growth of the MICE market last year, according to a new report. World Travel Monitor , a study by tourism consultancy IPK, has revealed that the meetings and incentives market is said to have increased five percent globally, generating trillions in revenue. In the report, the Middle East was described as a powerful market in the growth, alongside Asia and South America due to their double digit increase. Although the US, Europe and Far East still remain as the market’s top destinations, the Middle East was also named as an emerging MICE location. Dubai and Abu Dhabi front the campaign, with the latter recording that 70 percent of its occupancy is business travellers, 10 percent of those in the MICE segment.
