Monarch has launched additional services to Sharm el Sheikh and Gibraltar this summer due to high customer demand. A sixth weekly flight will depart Gatwick to Sharm el Sheikh every Thursday between 9 September and 28 October 2010. Gibraltar’s extra operation will depart Manchester each Sunday between 12 September and 31 October. “We are very excited to be expanding our services to Gibraltar as a new terminal at the airport, which opens next summer, will see better facilities for customers and an enhanced travel experience,” said Monarch’s Managing Director of Flights and Holidays Tim Jeans. Meanwhile, the airline will also launch its new thrice weekly service from Gatwick to Majorca this weekend, bucking the recent news that Western Med bookings are down. “We are also delighted to be launching our first scheduled operation between Gatwick and Majorca in response to a surge in demand for the Western Mediterranean this summer,” added Jeans. “We already have a successful programme of flights to the Island from our other UK bases.”
