Cruise lines have continued to cancel their excursions and calls at Tunisian ports following the continued political unrest in the country. Voyages of Antiquity has changed its spring itineraries, which will now depart from Athens to visit Libya, Syracuse, Taormina, Crete, Sorrento and end in Rome. “Having carefully considered the situation in both countries, we feel it is important that guests are not left wondering about their cruises until the last minute,” said David Yellow, managing director of Voyages to Antiquity. SeaDream Yacht Club has also revised its itinerary in May, which will now visit Gozo, Malta instead of Tunis. In addition, Disney Cruise Line will call at Palermo instead of Tunis and Costa Magica will head to Palma, Valletta or Cagliari. Meanwhile cruise lines have also cancelled port calls to Egypt in light of the protests. Costa Cruises’ has announced that its Red Sea itineraries will be turned around or visit Greece or Israel until further notice. NCL’s Norwegian Jade will go to Istanbul instead of Alexandria, while it is thought that MSC Cruises may redirect its itineraries to Limassol, Haifa or Izmir.
