With increasing wealth in the region, GCC tourists are willing to pay more than other holiday-makers on luxury experiences abroad.
These facts were highlighted by a 2014 study conducted by Travel & Tourism Intelligence Center. The study revealed that GCC outbound expenditure is expected to reach US$100 billion by 2018, up from US$65 bn in 2013. This would be as regional population increases trips abroad.
Further findings announced that GCC tourists spend on average 260% more on airfares, with between 40-60% opting for business class, and a staggering 430% more on accommodation than global average spending. This put the spotlight on luxurious accommodation during holidays among GCC nationals.
“GCC nationals, and a high number of GCC expatriates, are accustomed to high levels of luxury available in the region, and are willing to spend more than global averages to maintain this lifestyle while on holiday,” said Rui Reis, general manager of St Regis Istanbul.
Istanbul is a top destination for GCC tourists and the St Regis Istanbul has all the facilities to cater for this growth market. The hotel among the many facilities also offers the Butler service to its GCC guests’. The personal butlers are happy to assist with anything from complimentary garment pressing, to delivery, and luggage packing.
