M’sia issues travel warning against Myanmar

Last week, at least 13 people, including a Japanese journalist, were killed when troops opened fire on protesters last week.
“I advise Malaysians to avoid going to Myanmar until the situation returns to normal,” the official Bernama news agency quoted Najib Razak, deputy prime minister, as saying.
“So far, our embassy has not advised us to evacuate Malaysians from Myanmar. If there are Malaysians in Myanmar, my advice to them is to stay away from the country’s internal problems. Don’t join in the demonstrations,” he said.
National carrier Malaysia Airlines flies five times a week to Yangon and an official said Saturday it was flying as usual.
