Dubai-based developer, Nakheel, has said that plans are underway for the arrival of the QE2, Gulf News has reported. The iconic cruise liner is currently en route to Dubai, where it will retire from service and be transformed into a luxury hotel on the Palm Jumeirah. Due to arrive on 26 November, the QE2 will be greeted at The World islands by a flotilla of local yachts, boats and leisure craft led by a Royal Navy frigate.
Manfred Ursprunger, Chief Executive Officer of QE2 Enterprises, Nakheel Hotels, said; “The investment Nakheel will be making in the QE2 will ensure that she continues to be a beacon of sophistication for generations to come and maintains her rich heritage and iconic stature.”
