Eastern Airways has launched a series of weekday flights between Durham Tees Valley Airport and Bergen, Norway. From 29 March 2010, early morning daily flights from Durham via Aberdeen will provide a connecting option to Bergen, aimed primarily at business travellers.”Both are major players in the oil and gas industries and centres of excellence in subsea technologies. Of course many of the thousands of workers employed in the Norwegian oil and gas industries are from the North East and Bergen serves as the main heliport base for the offshore operations,” said Aviation Project Manager for Peel Airports, Richard Whitehouse.Weekday flights with Eastern depart Durham at 630, arriving in Bergen at 1110 local time. Returning flights leave Bergen at 1440, arriving in Durham at 1710 local time.”The north east has had strong trade links with Norway for many years. This new connection from Durham Tees Valley allows us to provide an alternative early morning link from the north east,” said Eastern Airways’ Ground Services Manager Roger Hage.
