Ho Chi Minh City, January 2009 - Yu Chu and its signature bar, the elegant Purple Jade. Located opposite each other on the first floor, the two new destinations complete the culinary line up for Ho Chi Minh City’s newest luxury hotel, just in time for the celebrations that will ring in the Year of the Tiger.
“With the unveiling of the two cornerstones of our fine dining and entertainment offerings, I am thrilled to be able to introduce Yu Chu - translated as The Emperor’s Kitchen – to Chinese food lovers, with its unique dim sum and mouthwatering delicacies including aromatic crispy Peking duck, Drunken Chicken, and Drunken Prawns that are set to delight all who set foot in the beautifully appointed restaurant.” said new hotel Area General Manager in Vietnam, Thomas Schmelter.
Yu Chu, the 146-seat Chinese restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the cosmopolitan Hai Ba Trung Street. It was designed to bring a taste of contemporary China to its fast developing southern neighbor. Featuring an open, impeccably designed show kitchen, Yu Chu offers diners an opportunity to see with their own eyes the talented team, led by the world-renowned Chef Andy Leong, preparing hand-pulled noodles, fresh dim sum and hot wok dishes. With an emphasis on unsurpassed quality and impeccable service, Yu Chu is set to be the place to entertain clients, to bring friends or family or just to savour top-notch Chinese cuisine.
“And our stunning signature bar is a watershed development for Saigon’s young and elite nightlife crowd. Set to include live entertainment, and with a decor unique to this city, but blending the stylistic influences of both contemporary interior design and centuries old opium dens, we are certain this bar will set new standards for the be-seen set.”
Seating 96 people, and with special drinks including Shaoxing and Maotai rice wines and an exclusive selection of luxury imported spirits, Purple Jade is set to redefine the way Saigon sees the night. Both Yu Chu and Purple Jade open in January. Yu Chu is operational from 11.30am - 2.30pm for lunch and 6.00pm - 10.00pm for dinner, while Purple Jade opens from 6pm-1am.
