Travel agents in India get the opportunity this week-end to capitalise on the internet travel revolution - thanks to a dynamic new online platform catering for the fast-expanding global tourism industry.
Joining exhibitors at the Indian International Travel Mart (12-14 Feb) in Cochin, India is a team promoting the Standard Online Tourism Architecture (SOTA) developed by Malaysia-based Creative Advances Technology. SOTA is designed to create increased awareness of packages and products offered by travel agents in India to millions of consumers worldwide by publishing them on a variety of websites including wego.com and packages2go.com.
“The time is ripe for travel agents across India to improve their online presence - and with SOTA they have the perfect solution,” explains Chief Operating Officer Vincent Kok. “We’re delighted to be taking part in this important travel fair in Cochin. SOTA offers a wealth of benefits to Indian businesses and bridges that vital gap between the travel trade and the millions of consumers surfing the web for the best deals.”
A new survey of travel trends in India, conducted by Nielsen, shows that Indians making leisure trips overseas are choosing new destinations in such markets as China, Maldives, Indonesia and Africa. The survey, conducted in association with PATA, also found that Asian countries accounted for 76 percent of leisure travel by Indians in 2010 and 63 percent for business travel.
“The SOTA XD (eXecutive Desktop) platform integrates travel operators worldwide. The easy-to-use interface means that B2B and B2C travel service providers, even those without a website, can start tapping the global online tourism market. SOTA XD runs a secure payment system and works on all popular internet browsers. We’ve taken the complexity of technology out of the travel equation so that agents, tour operators and hoteliers may now concentrate on running their business,” adds Vincent Kok.
SOTA’s Jack Tan is heading up the company’s sales trip to India.
