New private island resort opens in Indonesia
Pulau Joyo, a new luxury private island in Indonesia’s Riau Islands, has officially opened. Located off the coast of Sumatra, close to Singapore, Pulau Joyo was originally the private residence of the Marden shipping family. It comprises eight beachfront villas, each decorated with traditional furniture and artworks. Four large ‘Driftwood Palaces’ include a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom, and a Balinese day-bed which can be used for children or additional guests. They also include a living area and terrace with sun-loungers and sofas.
Accessible from both Singapore and the nearby island of Bintan, Pulau Joyo offers sandy beaches, tropical vegetation and off-shore reefs. Guests can charter the residence’s 140-foot yacht, The Hang Tuah, which features three double cabins and five permanent staff.
