Princess Cruises has revealed that its new ship will be named Royal Princess when it enters the fleet in 2013. The 3,600 passenger ship is the first of two new ships for the cruise line and includes new features such as an over-water glass walkway. The SeaWalk will extend more than 28 feet from the edge of the ship so passengers can see the sea 128 feet below. In addition, a similar styled SeaView bar will be on the ship’s port side. Meanwhile on the top deck, the vessel will have an adults-only pool area with two additional pools by the side to create a tropical island feel. This will be turned into an outdoor nightclub at night. “We’re taking the best features of our newest vessels that have been such customer pleasers, and taking them to the next level,” said Alan Buckelew, president and CEO of Princess Cruises. “Just as the original Royal Princess ushered in a new era for our company with its innovative design, we expect our new Royal Princess to do the same.” Eighty percent of the vessel’s staterooms will be outside facing with balconies and the Piazza atrium is to be expanded as a ‘social hub’.
