New seaplane services take travellers straight to Philippine islands

A series of new seaplane services will allow tourists to travel straight from Manila to some of the Philippines’ top beach resorts.

Local aviation company Air Juan will use its nine-seat Cessna Caravan Amphibian aircraft to provide direct daily seaplane services from Manila Harbour to Boracay, Coron, Puerto Galera and Subic. A dockside check-in facility means that passengers only need to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled departure time.

“This direct daily service allows travellers to reach their resorts much faster, which means they can spend more time enjoying the destination and less on the road,” said Tina Di Cicco, Air Juan’s chief marketing officer.

“Currently, getting to these destinations from Manila means either a long drive through traffic or a combination of sea and land transportation. With our direct daily service, the travel time to these destinations is cut by as much as six hours.”

She added that the new services would help “decrease congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport”.

Air Juan’s seaplane services land directly at most resorts in Coron, Palawan, including Two Seasons Coron, Busuanga Bay Lodge, Huma Island and El Rio y Mar, and at the Diniwid Beach Resort in Boracay. Subic and Puerto Galera are now 20 and 30 minutes from Manila by seaplane, respectively.

Air Juan also offers private charter flights to island destinations across the country.
