A brand new luxury wellness centre is set to open near Queenstown, in New Zealand’s South Island.
The purpose-built Aro Ha facility offers all-inclusive holidays with a range of activities such as yoga, hiking, meditation and massage. Labelled as a “detox spa retreat”, the centre’s activity programme has been developed by some of New Zealand’s leading wellness consultants, and claims to help guests achieve “improved learning, increased self-esteem, weight loss, and improved body image”.
The resort has been constructed using passive building techniques and features New Zealand’s first renewable distributed heating system. The development will also have its own off-grid power source, while its own garden will provide organic ingredients for the restaurants.
Aro Ha was created by Damian Chaparro and Chris Madison.
“Aro Ha is designed to support exceptional personal growth, both physically and spiritually,” said Chaparro. “We feel a programme that combines all the elements of true health, from built form to mindfulness, is a great way to support a shift.”
Surrounded by the Southern Alps and overlooking Lake Wakatipu, Aro Ha is set to welcome its first guests on 12 January 2014.
