No jet skis in Halong Bay

Vietnam News Agency said the authorities will alsostop issuing new permits for fish and shrimp farms in the bay, one of thecountry’s main tourist draws.
Halong Bay, located in the Gulfof Tonkin about 160km east of thecapital Hanoi,was declared a World Heritage site in 1994.
Its 1,600 islands and islets form a spectacularseascape of mostly uninhabited limestone pillars.
The UN Educational, Scientific and CulturalOrganisation (UNESCO) had urged the Ha Long Bay Management Authority to”address growing urban, industrial and tourism development pressures”there, the agency reported.
It asked Vietnam to ban jet-skis in the bayand cancel plans to develop a tourism resort on Lam Bo Island.
