No opposition to Virgin-Delta joint tie-up

The chances of Delta Air Lines and V Australia winning approval for their proposed trans-Pacific joint venture have improved after United Airlines stopped short of objecting to the deal. The Australian reported that United said it had not taken a position for or against the tie up, but had asked “only that the (Australian Competition & Consumer) Commission give a thorough review of the application to ensure all market participants have the opportunity to compete on a fair and level playing field”.
