‘No outdoor air-con’ and other ridiculous travel complaints

White sand beaches, a sea full of fish and extensivemarkets just down the road – all elements of a relaxing holiday at firstglance. But not for the put-upon vacationers who found their gripes the subjectof a recent list of ‘ridiculous complaints to travel agents’ compiled by theAssociation for British Travel Agents (ABTA) and ThomasCook.
“We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure.Your brochure shows the sand as yellow but it was white,” one complaint read. Anotherperson moans they were not told there would be fish in the sea; “The childrenwere startled,” they said.
And the owner of a new pair of ‘Ray-Ban’ sunglasses – purchasedfor EUR5 (US$6.70) from a street trader, was most put out to discover they werefake.
Perhaps the most startling claim however, was one blamingthe conception of a child on the hotel an engaged couple stayed in.
