Thai low-cost carrier, Nok Air, will cut 260 more jobs, the Bangkok Post has reported. The airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Patee Sarasin, said the airline is being restructured and all unnecessary costs will be cut to enable the airline to remain in business.
Nok Air has suffered heavy losses in recent months due to high oil prices and the sluggish economy, and needed a rescue plan from part owners, Thai Airways, to keep its planes flying.
The 260 redundancies will include pilots and cabin and ground crews. Patee added that THB20 million (US$594,000) has been set aside for compensation.
