Tourism Tropical North Queensland will be hosting a series of events in major cities across Australia this month. The tourism board will be in Melbourne on 21 March, before moving to Blacktown on 22 March, Sydney on 23 March and Brisbane on 24 March.
The evening events will invite retail travel agents, wholesalers and product managers to meet Tourism Tropical North Queensland and other regional operators, including Poseidon Sailaway Cruises, CaPTA, Tourism Kuranda, Reef Magic Cruises, Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours, Ocean Spirit Cruises, Pinnacle Tourism Marketing, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Wildlife Tropical North Queensland, Bay Village Tropical Retreat, Thala Beach Resort, Park Regis, Bloomfield Lodge, Meridian Apartments, Mirvac Hotels and Resorts, and Rendezvous Reef Resort.
Rob Giason, CEO of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, said; “In the year ending September 2010 the domestic holiday market delivered 5.5 million visitor nights to Tropical North Queensland. This was an increase of 22% on the previous year and lifted the average length of stay in the region from five to seven nights. This series of events is designed to keep that momentum going.
“The events are timed to build on the awareness created by the launch in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane of Tropical North Queensland?s new brand Adventurous by nature. Tourism Queensland?s has invested AU$500,000 (US$507,000) to launch ‘Adventurous by Nature’ in key domestic markets.
“We have assembled operators who represent a great mix of adventure touring companies and operators of some amazing Tropical North Queensland accommodation for this series of events to remind domestic sellers that the Great Barrier Reef is still GREAT and there are amazing adventures to be experienced in Tropical North Queensland”.
More than 400 domestic holiday sellers are expected to attend the four evening workshops, which run from 6pm to 8.30pm at:
– Mantra on Russell, Melbourne on 21 March
– Blacktown RSL on 22 March
– Westin Hotel, Martin Place, Sydney on 23 March
– XXXX Brewery, Milton on 24 March
All participants will be given a “Passport to Adventure”, a 36 page booklet offering special deals on their next visit to Tropical North Queensland.
