Olympic venue free of algae

The site of the Olympic sailing competition is”basically” free of the green algae that has plagued the waters inrecent weeks, the Bangkok Post has reported Chinese officials as saying. Thealgae, which also gives off a noxious odour, has been disrupting the practiceof Olympic sailing teams, but the government has said it is now almostcompletely clear. “Now it’s totally different from several days ago,” saidWang Haitao, Vice President of the Olympic sailing committee. “It’s hard tofind the green algae, especially in the Olympics sailing site.”
Newspaper reports late last week spoke of the algae beingreported at Chinese resorts further down the coast.
