Tourism to Oman boomed during the recent Eid holidays, with a large number of hotels reporting 100% occupancy.
The Masirah Island Resort and Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve were full for most of the nine-day break, according to a report in the Oman Times.
Vijay Handa, cluster general manager, Masirah Island Resort and the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, said: “Most of the people were back after the school vacations and thus avoided long distance travel or visiting countries beyond the border.”
Alila Jabal Akhdar, which overlooks a dramatic gorge and is surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Al Hajar Mountains, also benefitted from the Eid boom, reporting 85% occupancy during the festival.
According to the hotel, GCC nationals represented 41% of the total visitors, followed by GCC expats, which represented 28% of guests.
Citizens and residents accounted for 36% of total visitor numbers – 15% were Omanis and the remainder were Europeans and other nationalities residing in Oman.
