More than 80,000 job losses were announced around the world last week as the global recession tightened its grip, the Financial Times reported. The FT compiled the figures in a study of company announcements, press briefings and union statements over the past five working days.
Those companies to have announced job cuts included jet engine manufacturer, Rolls Royce (2,000 jobs), Air New Zealand (200) and Lufthansa (500).
