Singapore, 31 August 2009 – Suntec Singapore, Asia’s leading convention and exhibition centre, is the proud host of the 2009 FDI Annual World Dental Congress from 2-5 September 2009.
The FDI World Dental Federation is headquartered in France and is the one of the oldest charitable organizations in the world. It was founded in 1900 with more than 150 member associations in 130 countries, representing more than 900,000 dentists worldwide. The FDI World Dental Congress is one of the few mega conventions in the world that attracts more than 10,000 delegates. The congress has a long history spanning back to 1900 and rotates internationally every year.
“We are very excited to welcome FDI Annual World Dental Congress 2009 to our venue. Over the past few years, Suntec Singapore has made an international name for itself as the utmost venue of choice in Asia for large international medical meetings,” said Pieter Idenburg, CEO of Suntec Singapore. “With hundreds of large events under our belt, we are well accustomed to handle expertly complex and demanding conventions and we will make sure that we extend our utmost hospitality and professional service to ensure that FDI 2009 is a resounding success.”
Living up to its reputation as one of the few mega events in the world that attracts in excess of 10,000 delegates, the four-day event will include forums and workshops on the latest scientific topics affecting the dentistry profession, an exhibition of advanced technology, the World Dental Parliament of 350 representatives, various social events and optional tours in Uniquely Singapore. Singapore submitted the bid to host the congress back in 2002 and won the bid to
host the event two years ago, beating several countries including Brazil. This is the second time the city-state had hosted the congress, the first being in 1990.
