P&O Cruises’ Oriana ship will return to Southampton three days earlier than planned so repair work can be made on a propeller shaft seal.
The cruise line said the ship’s safety has not been compromised by the repairs, but means the ship is unable to call at some ports and will return to Southampton on 29 February.
Passengers will be able to remain onboard the ship in the UK port until 1 March as planned to enjoy its dining and entertainment.
Passengers have also been offered credit of 100% of their current cruise to use on a future Oriana cruise in 2014 or 2015, or a 40% cash refund.
“Our decision to bring the ship back early has not been taken lightly and I am sorry that our customers’ holiday plans have been impacted,” said P&O director Christopher Edgington.
