Page & Moy Travel Group has recorded a 174 percent increase in trade sales in the booking period 1 January-4 February 2011 compared to last year. The group’s company for single travellers, Just You, increased sales by 130 percent, while bookings were up 35 percent for the Page & Moy brand. Trade sales were also boosted by Travelsphere, which started to sell through travel agents in September 2010. “Earlier this year we launched a TV advertising campaign which carried a very strong trade call to action, driving customers into their local travel agents to book their holiday and last year we recruited a full-time sales executive, Julie Franklin, to be on the road to visit agents and provide on-hand training sessions,” explained Colin Wilson, head of sales at the Page & Moy Travel Group. “These two factors amongst other key trade activity we have organised over the last year have all contributed to the increase in trade sales and we hope our relationship with the trade will continue to strengthen along with the growth in sales.” Other activities include Just You evenings held by travel agents, which showcase the company’s tours. New tours have also boosted sales including the ‘India-Tigers & the Taj’ holiday, which takes 25 percent of the trade’s wildlife bookings with Page & Moy.
