Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of Tourism is considering the development of Ski resorts in the country’s northern region. Pakistan is not widely reputed among holiday makers for its alpine slopes and powdered snow, but a privileged few within the skiing fraternity know better. The Gilgit-Baltistan region experiences sub-zero temperatures every winter and the slopes of Skurdu and the Khunjerab Pass offer downhill and cross country skiing options. Partnerships with western sports clubs are also being considered to facilitate the development of ice rinks in the region. According to APP reports the Aga Foundation has already established a skating club in Khorg, Tajikistan with the technical cooperation of the Canadian skating club.
