Pakistan to preserve ancient Buddhist caves

The government of Pakistan has announced plans to preserve and protect a set of 2,400 year-old caves, containing ancient Buddhist artwork, local media reported on Monday. The country’s Department of Archeology and Museums said the caves needed “immediate attention”. The caves, which are located in the Margalla Hills, approximately 15km northwest of Islamabad, feature murals of Buddha on the walls.
