A passenger plane had to be evacuated at Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport yesterday, injuring several people. The China Post reported that 15 passengers were hurt as they disembarked using the plane’s emergency slides. The MD-90 jet, operated by EVA Air’s regional subsidiary, Uni Air had been scheduled to fly to Macau, but take-off was aborted when one of the engines started emitting smoke. All the injuries were reported to be “minor scrapes”. The cause of the engine smoke is still unknown, and Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) has said it will investigate the incident.
