PATA is gearing up to host its annual travel show in September in Hyderabad.
PATA Travel Mart 2008 is being held in India for the second time, with support from the country’s Ministry of Tourism and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department.
“By bringing a leading global travel trade event to PATA Gold Award-winning ‘Incredible India!’, the industry will see one of the world’s fastest growing and most popular tourist destinations up close and personal,” said PATA President and CEO Peter de Jong.
This year’s Mart in Hyderabad will be the first major PATA event held outside the Indian capital. PTM2008 will take place at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on September 16-19.
Visitors to the show will be landing at the new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad, which opened on March 23.
RGIA is located just 17 km from HICC and 20 km from Hyderabad.
The 105,300-sqm terminal has an initial annual capacity of 12 million passengers, and will eventually be expanded to handle 50 million.
In its first 50 days, RGIA passenger traffic reached 1 million.
