Pegasus ceo and chairman John F. Davis III told TD last week the firm had recently signed an agreement with Jinling Hotels and Resorts, one of the largest hotel groups in China, allowing it to expand its presence worldwide and tap into new revenue streams using the Utell Hotels and Resorts representation service.
The Jinling deal follows the establishment of a Beijing office for Pegasus, and Davis said the firm is in the process of recruiting Demand Generation Managers to its corporate sales team as a result of its past success in Europe and the USA.
The Demand Generation Managers will work with Travel Management Companies (TMCs), meeting planners and corporations to generate incremental business for Utell member hotels, he said.
MEANWHILE, earlier this month Pegasus acquired Wizcom from Travelport and GuestClick. Mr Davis said the Wizcom acquisition enables Pegasus to provide switch services to an even broader range of hotels globally.
Today, Pegasus has over 78,000 hotel customers across the world.nWizcom’s product range includes GDS and GDS-related products, Internet Distribution Systems Connectivity and Data Management solutions.
As a result of the acquisition, Pegasus will inherit all of these products and will begin integrating the Wizcom business into the Pegasus organization.
Davis said the GuestClick acquisition will provide Pegasus with a foundation to build a nextgeneration hospitality engine to serve as one of the industry’s first major overhauls of the central reservation system (CRS).
Other developments in train from Pegasus include new products which use booking data to allow hoteliers to compare their market share with those of competitors and adjust their rates to capture more business.
