Peter de Jong to leave PATA

Peter de Jong,the President and CEO of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is leavingthe organisation in the latter half of next year, setting in motion the searchfor his successor.
PATA hasput up a notice seeking “qualified candidates” for the Bangkok-based position.
“This is a challenging, high-profile position in a large and rapidlyexpanding industry in the world’s most dynamic region,” the notice said.
“It requires a mature individual with relevant experience and soundjudgement, who possesses a thorough understanding of the Asia Pacific regionand its travel and tourism community.”
After thecompletion of his first five-year term (2002-2006), de Jong renewed hiscontract but had told the Board he would extend only for three years.
