Philippines opens palace for flood victims

Philippines President, Gloria Arroyo, has opened her palace to shelter survivors from country’s devastating floods, ChannelNewsAsia has reported. At least 240 people are now known to have been killed after Tropical Storm Ketsana brought six-metre floods to Manila and surrounding provinces. 1.87 million others have been affected by the floods, the report said, citing government estimates.
