Creative company Infinite Studios and formed a new partnership with Landstar Development to build a unique movie-themed resort development on the Indonesian island of Batam.

Called ‘The Scene’, the project will cover 31,600m2 of land and will feature 295 low-rise apartments and suites, 50 retail spaces, plus resort facilities including restaurants, bars, swimming pools, a fitness centre, spa, a wedding chapel and conference rooms.

The project is being designed in partnership with input from Hollywood set designer, Peter Collias.

“The Scene’s unique concept stems from the strong demand we are seeing in Asia for movie production, with more international directors now choosing to come to this region,” explained Mike Wiluan, CEO of Infinite Studios.

“What you see on the big screen, we have created in reality with The Scene. Its breathtakingly stunning cinematic environment presents an exciting opportunity as a new vibrant place to stay. Its close proximity to Singapore, excellent transport links, and first-rate architecture and hotel facilities, make The Scene destined to become a new iconic landmark.”

Construction of The Scene is planned in four phases and expected to be completed by December 2018. Phase One will be launched on 8 November 2014 and will comprise 109 studios and one-bedroom apartments, plus retail space. The development will be connected to Batam’s Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, from which visitors can catch the ferry to Singapore.
