Airport lounge provider Plaza Premium has set its sights on developing its European portfolio following the arrival of its new lounge at Heathrow in June.
The Hong Kong-based provider will open its first lounge in Europe at Heathrow’s new Terminal 2 in early June, with another already in the pipeline for Terminal 4.
At Heathrow Terminal 2 customers can pay GBP38 per person for two hours with facilities including shower rooms, relaxation rooms, a spa, champagne bar and healthy food. A Michelin star chef is involved but has not yet been revealed.
Song Hoi-See, founder and CEO, developed the Plaza Premium concept after travelling as a banker and noticing that while airlines were looking after their premium customers there was a majority in economy class that would also like to have a space to relax in while in transit.
“Airport space is very precious and carefully chosen so we are very lucky to be in the best UK airport. They have seen our 16-year history and put trust in the success and our service,” Hoi-See told Travel Daily. “Our lounges are an oasis for air passengers and we only offer the best, based on comfort, convenience, love, care and value.”
As well as the lounges in the departure area Plaza Premium also plans to open a lounge in Heathrow’s arrivals to cater for those who arrive in London in the morning but cannot access a hotel until the afternoon, or need somewhere after they have checked out in the morning.
Song Hoi-See said the company will now look to expand its offering in both the UK and Europe, as well as globally. In addition to the Heathrow openings the company will also open a lounge in Sydney’s airport this year.
“In the UK we would look to talk to Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and up into Scotland for potential lounges,” Hoi-See revealed. “We already have 114 lounges in 29 international airports and we have plans for another 50 in the next two years. There are thousands of airports out there we could have a lounge in and we’re only at the tip of the iceberg.”
