Pollution spreads in Yellow River

Pollution has spread to one third of the Yellow River system, prompting a Chinese water resources official to call for urgent action, the Shanghai Daily has reported.
Li Xiaoqiang, Chief of Publicity Section with the Yellow River Conservancy Committee, made the call on Sunday after studies revealed that 33.8% of the system’s waterways contained polluted water.
The Yellow River, referred to as the “mother river” of China, originates in Qinghai province, flows 5,464km eastward before emptying into the Bohai Sea, Shandong province
