Australia will welcome the P&O Cruises’ 3,100-passenger Azura as part of the biggest world cruise programme in 2013. At 115,000 tonnes, the 290-metre long Azura will be one of the largest ships ever to visit Australia and is too tall to fit under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Launched in the UK last year, Azura is the headline act in the 2013 programme which also features cruises onboard Arcadia, Aurora and Adonia. Collectively the four ships will be making 11 calls to Australian ports during February and March 2013.
Overall the 2013 programme will be the largest yet for any cruise line, with the four ships visiting 94 destinations in 52 different countries and covering more than 130,000 nautical miles (240,760km). It also represents a 23% increase in world cruise capacity compared to 2012.
Azura will call at Fremantle (17 February 2013), Adelaide (21 February) and Melbourne (23 February) on its maiden world voyage with an overnight stay in Sydney (25-26 February) before sailing to Brisbane (28 February) and Cairns (3 March).
