Powerful earthquakes strike Asia

Asia has been struck by two powerful earthquakes, the BBC has reported. The first, centring near Indonesia’s Moluccas islands, registered 6.6 on the Richter scale, struck at 09:02 local time. Minutes later a 7.2 magnitude quake struck Hokkaido, northern Japan. The Japanese quake triggered a tsunami warning which was later cancelled. The have been no immediate reports of casualties from either quake.
