Preferred Hotel Group has added its Sterling Hotels member in Cambodia – the Independence Hotel, Resort & Spa, in the beach resort town if Sihanoukville. The 47 year-old, seven-storey hotel was one of the country’s most important hotels in the 1960s, hosting famous names including Jaqueline Kennedy.
Following a refurbishment in 2007, the resort now offers 88 rooms with views over the Gulf of Thailand. A further seven oceanfront rooms and villas – one of which is a pool villa – will be completed later this year. Other facilities include an outdoor pool, fitness centre, two restaurants, and conference facilities for up to 650 people.
“Sihanoukville is an idyllic beach town, one of Asia’s ‘hidden gems’ and we are delighted to offer such a great property in this unique destination in our Sterling Hotels portfolio,” said Mark Simmons, Preferred’s Area Managing Director for Asia.
“We are proud to partner with Sterling Hotels to provide the necessary technology tools, global sales and marketing assistance as well as to promote the destination. With the completion of the new rooms and spa facilities, Independence Hotel, Resort & Spa will be one of Sihanoukville best accommodations,” said the hotel’s GM, Thomas Lam.
