Qatar Airways has signed a new in-flight Wi-Fi agreement, and is promising all passengers 15 minutes of free connectivity per flight.
The airline’s has struck a deal with telecommunications company Ooredoo, to “sponsor” its in-flight Wi-Fi for a period of three years. And from 17 December, all passengers will be offered the first 15 minutes of their in-flight Wi-Fi session for free.
Following this, one hour of connectivity is charged at US$5, three hours at US$10, and unlimited Wi-Fi for the entire flight is available for US$20.
First class passengers onboard the airline’s Airbus A380s will be offered complimentary Wi-Fi for the duration of their flight.
“We believe onboard shouldn’t mean offline,” said Qatar Airways’ group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker. “By offering customers the chance to stay connected whilst flying, Qatar Airways is demonstrating its promise to offer a premium service to all customers.
“This partnership really reflects the values at the core of our new, recently unveiled, global brand positioning – ‘Going Places Together’ – and further underpins our commitment to offering the best to our customers,” he added.
Qatar Airways currently offers Wi-Fi on all its A380, A350, A319 and Boeing 787 aircraft, as well as on some A320s and A330s.
