An oil and chemical spill along the coast of Queensland is 10 times worse than originally thought, the BBC reported state authorities as saying.
A ship damaged by a tropical storm on Wednesday leaked 230 tonnes of oil and 620 tonnes of ammonium nitrate along a 60km stretch of the Sunshine Coast, affecting dozens of beaches. The area has been declared a disaster zone.
Hundreds of people are working to clean the beaches and save wildlife, according to the report.
