Distribution and partnerships between UK rail companies andoverseas operators could become more integrated following a summit held earlierthis month.
Key stakeholders in the UK’s train operating companies met withCapita Business Travel, Deutsche Bahn and Evolvi earlier this month t assesshow distribution could be improved across the UK and Europe.
In the first ofthe developments, Deutsche Bahn announced it is to operate trains from StPancras to Cologne through the Channel Tunnel from 2013.
“Forgingrelationships with existing and future providers such as Deutsche Bahn is animportant step in developing rail distribution strategies which will benefitour customer base and corporate business travel in general,” said Raj Sachdave,strategic business development at Capita. “Considering alternatives to theGDS such as Evolvi and other Ticket Issuing System (TIS) providers will enableEuropean rail operating companies to have access to a greater audience withincreased opportunities to link products with mainline UK operating companiessuch as UK/European ticketing, as well as negating the challenges whichdifferent national processes bring”.
