RAK signs German charter flight deal

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Investment and Development Authority (RAK TIDA) has signed an agreement with the German Tour Operator, Reise Service Deutschland, and Dubai-based Destination Management company World of Travel, for five weekly charter flights from Germany and one weekly charter flight from Austria.The first flight touched down at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport earlier this week, with 235 travellers arriving from Hamburg, Germany. The passengers were greeted personally by Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation for the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Every passenger received a welcome gift , was welcomed by RAK TIDA and entertained by a local cultural performance before heading to nearby hotels to commence their holidays.According to the agreement, RAK Airways’ Boeing 757-200 aircraft will deliver passengers to RAK from various cities across Germany including Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Munich and the Austrian capital, Vienna. Commenting on the new charter flight service, Victor Louis, COO of RAK TIDA said: “Germany is an important market for Ras Al Khaimah and this new direct charter flight service is a strategic step in achieving our goal of 1.2 million visitors by 2013.”
