Residents and tourists have been evacuated from coastal areas of Queensland as a major cyclone approaches the stricken state. Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi, which may bring winds of up to 250kph, is expected to make landfall on late Wednesday or early Thursday. One of the resorts to have evacuated its guests is Club Med Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays. All 300 guests and staff were moved out today. Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, called the cyclone “a dangerous, serious threat”.
