The Huka Retreats has re-launched Dolphin Island, Fiji, after extensive refurbishment works. The 13-acre private island has been spruced up and offers a maximum of eight guests “the ultimate private Pacific island experience”, on an exclusive-use basis.
Located just 20 minutes by boat from shore, on the tip of Viti Levu, Dolphin Island comprises of one luxurious main bure and a pair of equally picturesque guest bure suites. The property is at one with the landscape and every aspect of its design ensures perfect enjoyment of the island’s natural landscape. The main bure has a series of poolside areas for sunbathing and alfresco dining, while the open veranda calls for evening cocktails.
Dolphin Island guest bure suites feature heart timber floors, plaster walls, stone tiles, wooden shutters, high ceilings and air conditioning. The dressing rooms are large and generous and these are further complemented by well-appointed bathrooms, twin hand basins, shower, sculptural free-standing bath, and outdoor shower within a private garden courtyard.
At the top of the island the hilltop sleep-out bure awaits with thatched open-air bedroom, which is good for a romantic overnight stay.
Island manager Dawn Simpson and her team provide the warm style of hospitality that Fijian people are so well known for. They will look after guests as little or as much as they desire, while always providing attentive service for all Dolphin Island visitors.
Meals feature fresh produce, with many flavours and ingredients unique to Fijian cuisine. Freshly caught fish is brought to the island daily so guests can select their preference from the catch and it will be beautifully prepared and served to them within hours.
If guests wish to explore beyond the boarders of the resort, a variety of activities are available. Guests can snorkel, tank dive, swim and fish with carefully selected operators, visit nearby villages and areas of historical interest, or massages and facials can also be arranged.
The Huka Retreats comprise three stunning properties: Huka Lodge, New Zealand, Dolphin Island, Fiji and Grande Provence Estate, South Africa.
