SINGAPORE, 20 November 2009 - Months ahead of its early 2010 soft opening, Resorts World Sentosa has confirmed 30 event bookings, with the largest - the prestigious 11th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention from 5 to 7 October in 2011 - expecting to attract 4,000 of the top business leaders from around the world.
Augmenting its position as one of Singapore’s most sought-after meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) destinations, Resorts World Sentosa is currently fielding more than 150 leads, with expressions of interest for events up to 2014.
Resorts World Sentosa - closely watched as the destination that will boost Singapore tourism and MICE numbers in 2010 - houses Southeast Asia’s only Universal Studios theme park, the world’s largest Marine Life Park, six hotels, a casino and a palette of Las Vegas-styled entertainment, world-class performances, restaurants by celebrity chefs and retail shops.
With the ability to host up to 35,000 MICE guests at any one time, Resorts World Sentosa’s one-stop MICE destination proposition, including multiple unique event spaces within Universal Studios Singapore, as well as Resorts World Convention Centre’s 26 function rooms and the Compass Ballroom, one of Asia’s largest column-free ballrooms that seats 7,300, has been a hit for conference planners and event organisers, giving them cost-savings for those who hold their events at the Resort.
“These events - some of which are firsts in Singapore - signify growth in the MICE industry, and shows the confidence organisers have in the 49-hectare Resort’s MICE offerings as a solution for companies looking for venues that provide both impact and bang for the buck,” Ms Elena Arabadjieva, Director of MICE, Resorts World Sentosa, said.
“As the world’s economy recovers, we are getting strong interest from organisers for events from 2010 to as far ahead as 2014 and that gives us great confidence in Singapore’s meetings and incentive travel sector in the mid to long term”, Ms Arabadjieva added.
Since the start of 2008, Resorts World Sentosa has met more than 500 organisers and corporate clients to continue generating awareness of its impressive stable of MICE offerings.
Options range from themed dinners along Universal Studios Singapore’s New York Street, to product launches at the park’s Waterworld amphitheatre, complete with fire, pyrotechnics, stunt men and special effects.
What a programme at Resorts World Sentosa could look like:
The World Urban Transit Conference 2010, jointly organized by the LTA Academy, MSI Global Pte Ltd and the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore bundles a three-day convention from 20 to 22 October 2010 with an exhibition at Resorts World Sentosa’s Compass Ballroom.
After the main event on Day One, organisers have the flexibility to end the day with a welcome reception at Universal Studios Singapore or the open-air sheltered Coliseum facing the Hard Rock Hotel swimming pool.
Day Two’s programme includes break-out sessions within the Resorts World Convention Centre Function Rooms, followed by a gala dinner.
After Day Three’s sessions and meetings, delegates and their spouses can then enjoy Universal Studios Singapore and some golf action at one of Sentosa’s twin championship golf courses - a stone’s throw away from Resorts World Sentosa.
