The newly-refurbished Viridian Resort has opened in Phuket’s main tourist district of Patong.
Formerly known as the Sea Sun Sand Resort, the 78-room property was taken over by new owner and operator Deva Sanctuary, which has transformed the property into an “eco-boutique hideaway”, with upgraded the poolside rooms and facilities.
“We have upgraded the services and facilities and given the place an entirely new personality while keeping the rates affordable for guests who want a tranquil green space in the heart of Patong,” explained the resort’s managing director, Suttinun Pornsirikul.
Before reopening this summer, the resort’s garden view rooms were upgraded and renamed as superior, deluxe and grand deluxe rooms, and fitted out with new decor and furniture. The lobby has also been revamped, and all areas of the property now feature the blue-green colour scheme of the Viridian brand. The resort now plans to an outdoor spa and a gym by 2014.
In addition, the resort has taken on some environmentally-friendly operating techniques, in an effort to minimise power consumption and reduce waste water. And Suttinun said the feedback from guests regarding to upgrades has been positive.
“As Viridian Resort is located in the heart of Patong, about 300 metres back from Patong Beach… we have focused on creating a tranquil and romantic setting,” he said.
“We’ve had a very positive response so far with guests of all nationalities, many of them young couples from Europe and countries throughout the Asia Pacific region wanting affordable luxury within easy reach of the beach but also close to Patong’s shopping and entertainment venues.”
