Shaking a leg at a disco in Delhi till the wee hours of the morning has become a thing of the past, following strict enforcement of the police guideline to shut them by 1 am, Indian Express reported. While late-night revellers have been making their way to discotheques in Noida and Gurgaon, nightclub owners are frowning at this deadline and are ruing the dip in business.”The footfall has decreased and it is affecting our business. There are some places which are allowed to open beyond 1 am. We want to stop this discrimination so that there is a blanket rule for all of us. We are in talks with the authorities concerned regarding this,” Deepali Narula of F Bar, located in Hotel Asoka, was quoted saying.Unfazed by the criticism from the hotel lobby, Delhi Police said the rule always existed but they were not being followed by the discotheques in five star hotels.”The decision to impose the guidelines was taken after several brawls and unpleasant incidents took place outside these dicotheques and five-star hotels. We received several complaints and decided to enforce the 1 am deadline at these places,” a police spokesman was reported saying.”People can dine and drink at restaurants which have the 24-hour licence, but the music and performances by disc jockeys have to be stopped at 1 am.”
