Rising sea creates havoc in Jakarta

Rachmat Witoelar said rising sea levels made coastal cities like Jakarta especially vulnerable to flooding and monsoon storms, Jakarta Post reported.
Authorities used pumps to lower water levels, which reached up to 1.7m in the worst-hit areas and washed 2 km inland, said Iskandar, an official at Jakarta’s flood crisis centre.
