A river cruise line that recently started to sell through travel agents has expressed its delight in the interest is has received. The River Cruise Line has exceeded its targets for the year already at a time when river cruising continues to be popular amongst British travellers. The sector grew 8% last year compared to the ocean cruises’ growth of 6%, according to figures from the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA). “It appears that we have been very fortunate with the timing of our launch of sales through the trade, both with the interest in River Cruising as a whole on the increase and by the pressures on commission earning opportunities in the Ocean cruise sector.,” said Steve Goodenough, general sales manager at TRCL. “We also feel that our product, which offers free coach travel from joining points nationwide utilising ferry crossings from Dover, Hull and Newcastle, has provided a good value and welcome alternative to flight holidays.” He said the company is now working with travel agents across the UK and its training sessions had also been beneficial.
