Rolls-Royce has announced the results of an investigation into its Trent 900 aircraft, following the incident with Qantas flight QF32 earlier this month. The engine-maker confirmed that the problem was isolated to the Trent 900 aircraft, and that it was a related to a “specific component” in the turbine area of the engine. This caused an oil fire, which led to the incident. Rolls-Royce has said that it will replace the faulty engine component. Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a Qantas Boeing 767 flying from Perth to Melbourne was forced to turn back after a fault was noticed with one of the plane’s engines. The plane landed safely back at Perth airport.
